Clinical Librarian Support
A Clinical Librarian provides embedded clinical evidence at the point of care, working alongside and building strong relationships with clinical and non-clinical staff by participating in ward rounds, case reviews, audits, and departmental meetings, ensuring that questions in patient care are answered on the basis of a quality, reliable evidence base; this may include assisting with guidelines, finding evidence to support patient decision-making (including literature searching) or to identify best practice tailored to your team’s precise needs. It brings the library to you when you most need it, saving time and supporting evidence-based practice. Clinical Librarians work to become team members in the specialities they support.
How can a Clinical Librarian Support you?
Clinical Librarians can work with your team by:
Attending team meetings or handover huddles (including multidisciplinary team meetings) at regular intervals to provide information that supports patient care.
Attending ward rounds, patient reviews or clinics at agreed times with clinical staff to support evidence based practice.
Providing written evidence summaries on request to support patient care.
Supporting staff with systematic reviews, journal clubs or bespoke information training.
