Effective Searching Skills
Do you want to learn how to find relevant evidence to support patient care, service improvement, or a research project? We can teach you how to:
create a search strategy from a search question
develop and use techniques that can make your search more effective
identify the key concepts within a question and the relevant alternative terms, different principles and techniques for searching

Publishing for Beginners
This session is aimed at those interested in publishing for the first time. It introduces subscription and open access publishing models, explaining their benefits and drawbacks. It outlines techniques for identifying appropriate journals and highlights the dangers of predatory publishing. Finally, it introduces core concepts including peer review, research data, and authorship criteria.

Introduction to Research Metrics
This session introduces participants to bibliometric and altimetric indicators and explains their use measuring the impact of research. It introduces participants to author, output and journal indicators and highlights the limitations of metrics.
